My GF has a necklace that she needs fixed. i was wondering if you can solder silver together with regular electrical (a tin alloy i think) solder and flux? Ive looked at some videos, and people use silver solder and a blow torch... im no where near having those things, but i do have a soldering gun for hobbies and such... Can i use that to repair her necklace?
I've never tried it nor have I ever heard of it. I wouldn't try it as it will most likely break and come loose. The chain needs to be braised with silver to make a proper bond It shouldn't cost too much to have a jeweler to do that for you and if it does, buy a new one.
