Sea Bamboo

I accidentally brought home a sea snail and put it in the rocks with my bamboo plant... will it be okay?

I can't go back to the ocean anytime soon and I figured since snails eat algae and algae naturally grows with bamboo plants since it constantly requires water it will be fine.

It's not the kind of sea snail that lives under the water, it lives on the shore near the water and I've been told that they don't like the water and if you put them in salt water they'll just crawl out of it (which I did do and sure enough it crawled out). I can't remember the name of the species, but it's very small with a black circular shell.

I don't know if it needs occasional exposure to salt water like the ocean or if the water I give to my bamboo plant is good enough? Or if it can even survive off of the algae growing with my bamboo plant?

You might have better luck getting an answer if you ask this under 'pets' and then 'other'. You might could even try 'aquariums'. Thanks for caring about such a tiny creature...most people wouldn't even care...it says a lot about you as a person. If Yahoo answers doesn't work, try calling a pet store that sells marine/salt water fish for aquariums. They may even be able to put the snail in their store. Good luck.
